About Casa La Buena Vida

Seeking the benefits of location-location-location and the casual comfort of a traditional Mexican home that is family-friendly? A wonderful selection is Casa La Buena Vida, a three-bedroom retreat on Calle Aldama, one of the best streets in town and an easy, level walk from both the Jardin and the Parque Juarez.

This charming house has good indoor/outdoor space that is interspersed with patios and gardens and enclosed by bougainvillea-covered walls. The tropical plantings include plombago, oleander and poinsettia trees, as well as cacti and orchids – a lovely environment to enjoy as you rest and relax or while you entertain new San Miguel friends.

Casa La Buena Vida can accommodate up to 6 guests in its three bedrooms (king bed, king bed, two twin beds, which can be converted into a third king, if you want), each with en-suite bathroom. In addition, there is a large dining room with domed “boveda” brick ceiling and gas log fireplace, adjacent to the ample, well-equipped kitchen and the covered breakfast patio.

Lupe the maid, who has been working in the house for more than 18 years, is also an accomplished cook, and she can make your breakfast and/or mid-day comida during her hours of 8:15 am to 4 pm, Monday through Saturday. You pay extra for the food, of course. With prior arrangement, it’s also possible to have Lupe cook for you in the evening for an hourly rate of 50 pesos, plus cabfare home after dark. Severino the gardener, who comes to tend the plants on Mon, Wed and Sat, mixes a mean Margarita and can serve as a bartender for that special evening event, with extra compensation of 50 pesos/hour.

The house also has a comfortable living room with gas fireplace and TV (other TVs are located in the master bedroom and second king bedroom). Basic cable TV service is provided, and guests may add additional channel packages as they wish (Lupe can assist with this). A separate study is upstairs by the twin-bedroom, complete with exercise bike and large desk. Another desk is in the living room, including a high-speed Internet cable connection for hooking into your own laptop.

A special feature of Casa Buena Vida is a Vonage phone line, with free phone service for calls back to the U.S. and Canada. For colder months of the year, small electric heaters are available for use in the bathrooms, and there are gas log fireplaces in two bedrooms. Electric blankets are provided for all the beds.

Well-behaved children are welcome at Casa Buena Vida. A rental with one small dog is also allowed, but please check with the agent for more details.
