About Casa del Quijote
This lovely 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom colonial house has recently been totally renovated and refurnished with fine examples of Mexican furniture and folk art, plus quality pieces from the owner's travels around the world. The result is a spacious, elegant retreat with every imaginable comfort.
Casa del Quijote is located in Ojo de Agua, just south of Parque Juarez, about a 15-minute, flat walk to the Jardin or other sites in the historic district.
In this quiet residential area, you have the luxury of being close enough to walk everywhere, but the serenity of being removed from the hustle-bustle and traffic congestion of Centro.
The house has a lush patio garden with fountain and an interior light well with a second fountain that fills the entire house with its peaceful sound.
There are 3 bedrooms in the main house with 3 king beds. One of the kings can convert into 2 twins for flexibility. Two of these bedrooms share a bathroom, and the master suite has its own large bathroom and superior closet space, plus a quiet reading nook with daybed. You also can catch some sun on the private balcony off the master suite, where two comfortable lounge chairs are waiting for you.
Hairdryers are provided in each bathroom, and each bedroom is stocked with robes.
The kitchen is well equipped with all new cookware, dishes, flatware and glassware. There is a small breakfast table that seats 4 guests, in addition to the formal dining room that seats 10.
In the large, spacious living room, there are two seating areas. One allows you to take advantage of the TV with DVD player, while relaxing in one of four ultra-suede chairs. The other is the more formal area, with two elegant sofas facing the fireplace, perfect for enjoying your afternoon cocktails in front of the fire. From this part of the living room, French doors lead out to the garden patio, where you can sit or dine outside, enjoying the temperate weather for which San Miguel is so well known.
On a lower level from the main house is a casita that can be used separately or as a fourth bedroom. The casita has its own small patio area and fountain plus separate bath. There is a queen bed in the main sleeping area of the casita, plus a queen-size sleeper sofa in the casita's upstairs loft area. This casita provides a great option for two families staying together, because it adds more space with its own living/family room equipped with fireplace and another TV with DVD and CD player.
This house has all of the amenities and comforts of home, including a Vonage phone that you can use to call the States for free and you also can receive calls from a US area code, so your family isn't charged international rates if they call you in San Miguel. There also is a high-speed Internet connection, if you want to bring down your laptop.
The housekeeper/cook, who comes 6 days a week, can prepare 1-2 meals a day, if you desire, for breakfast and/or lunchtime comida. We also can arrange for her to come back in the evening to prepare dinner, for an extra hourly charge for her time, plus cabfare home after dark. No pets, no smoking and no children under 10 years of age, please.
NOTE: FOR RENTALS OF LESS THAN ONE WEEK/7 NIGHTS, THERE IS A NIGHTLY RATE OF $375 USD WITH A 3-NIGHT MINIMUM.
